Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass book 3)

My thoughts:

This is a middle book, not meaning it is a middle of the road, meh, book. More that the story arc is leading to the climax without getting there yet. It does enough to add in enough characters, Game of Thrones style so that you know the war is coming. In fact, the heroine, part fae  queen/assassin Aelin/Celeana has so much in common with Daenerys Targaryen that I'm not mad. These are strong appealing characters that are so powerful and so flawed that I want to cheer for them and hurt with them and destroy with them. I put my phone on airplane mode and took a mental health day to finish this and put myself on the waiting list at my local library for the next installment. Devour worthy.

Description:

Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak-but at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth…a truth about her heritage that could change her life-and her future-forever. Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons, but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed?
In this USA Today bestselling third book in the New York Times bestselling series, Sarah J. Maas again delivers the epic fantasy, heart-stopping pace, and heady romance that have won her readers the world over. Look for a teaser for the fourth book in the series, Queen of Shadows, out in this same season!
