Beast Player: Audiobook

My Thoughts:

This fantasy is a translated Japanese tale about a girl, Elin, 10 years old at the time, whose mother is a caretaker for the toda. Her mother is a minority, a shunned race, but she is very good at taking care of the toda, used by the warriors to defend the kindgdom. However, when the toda suddenly die, Elin's mother is set to be executed. That is really where the story starts for Elin.

This story is about Elin and her innate ability to use her mother's sacrifice to push her to survive and become a great royal beast handler. She is able to see understand how the handlers are keeping all of the beasts colonized and sterile. This is a social justice story but it is also a great story of a relationship between wild beasts and humans.
