My Thoughts:
We have not had a Borders or Barnes and Noble or any other large book store in my town since probably the demise of Blockbusters. Chain book stores were great ways to find new or spin off manga series because there are so many manga series that getting a chance to open it up and read the first few pages is enough to pull you into a commitment to continue to buy the rest of the books. That can only be done in a book store. I don't know how readers do this when they have to buy online. How can a manga by just the cover alone lure a reader in. After all, the covers look alike for the most part.
If I were not spending time in Portland, Oregon and carving out an hour or two to be in Powells, I would not have by chance happened on The Way of the House Husband, my summer obsession.
Yashahime, volume 1 is a spin-off of the Inuyasha series. If you like the demon hunter series, Inuyasha, or even other demon hunter stories like the anime Demon Slayer, you will like this series that takes the next generation of daughters/demon hunters. This is only volume 1, so of course nothing is really resolved, except that Towa, currently living in the present, can finally understand why she is both a feared outcast and a basically friendless hot girl. She also, thanks to a demon attack, is suddenly transported in time to feudal Japan. She is reunited with her twin sister Setsuma and her cousin Morosha. Cryptically guided by a grand aunt spirit dressed like the Tree of Ages, the three warrior princesses have to fight demons and find their parents, (but not all in volume 1). . .to be continued.
