Books to read before the movie comes out this summer

I really abhor novelizations of movies, but this summer there are a plethora (choke in Hawaiian) of great novels coming to the big screen, so read or reread them before they come to your neighborhood. Some of these are NOT young adult novels, but I still am excited about them.

1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (book 6) by J.K. Rowling
Unless you've just learned to read, I really don't need to explain the plot of this one, do I? Harry Potter continues to battle Lord Voldemort. Enough said. Look for the movie to come out in mid-July.

2. My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
When Kate was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, her parents started to try and genetically produce a perfect match for her. Through in vitro fertilization, Anna was born. Anna was conceived to save Kate. Anna medical emancipation from her parents, who until now have relied on Anna to save Kate's life. The movie, starring Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin comes out at the end of June

3. Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment by Julie Powell is the author's attempt to revitalize her marriage and regain her confidence by cooking all of Julia Child's recipes in her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking within the span of one year.
The movie, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams comes out in August. Foodies rejoice! And if you'd like to see the trailer, here's the link. http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi77595161/
